Our school and our school district dropped a notch on our state report card this year, and administrators are none too pleased about it.
Today, we were given the grim view of what's to come, should test scores slide any further this year. The district has been proactive, researching what other successful districts do and incorporating some new programming to plug the proverbial holes in the dike.
Upper admin even wants to hear from the teachers, getting our opinions on how to improve scores, especially on the short and extended response writing sections of the test.
Before I report back (my answer is always more use of social media), I figured I'd put out some feelers to my network.
So, I'm wondering, how do you overcome achievement test failure, and what do you do to improve response writing at your school? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
