How-To Videos for the
technology classroom

In launching Learn it in 5, I wanted to begin with a blog about what most teachers probably consider the centerpiece of the technology classroom, so for my first Web 2.0 application, I decided to blog about, what else, classroom blogs.

My students do most of what would be considered blogging in the classroom on web pages on their on my wiki hosted classroom web site, located at Barnesclass.com. It's not blogging in the classroom in the way we think of blogging in the classroom, because student blog posts can only be seen by me, unless I share them in class with a projector and interactive white board.

I have used a standard blog platform in the past to liven up my technology classroom, and my students loved it. The difficulty is having them complete school assignments that I don't want other students to see. This is what brought me to the wiki-based private student web site.

Ultimately, I want my students back on traditional classroom blogs, though, so I have to decide on a platform. I'm looking at Blogger and KidBlog, both of which we present here at Learn it in 5. Check out our Kidblog.org and Blogger.com how-to videos to learn more.

Be sure to leave a comment to let me know which classroom blog you prefer and why.
