This video demonstrates the kind of ePortfolio students can make with sites like Googlio. While watching this, I wondered how this is any better than an all-inclusive classroom web site, hosted by an advanced wiki.

Are ePortfolios better than wikis?

I decided this ePortfolio is lacking in two very critical areas. One: it creates an individual, blog-like page for the user, which would take the student off of my classroom site, thus taking the the student away from class activities and presentations posted there. Two: it is not a Content Management System. Similar to using a blog for a classroom web site, the ePortfolio does not empower the teacher to organize all student sites in an alphabetical, secured area.

ePortfolios have a purpose, I'm sure. At this point, I just don't know what it is.
